Este libro es un manual que está especialmente pensado para los alumnos de la UNED que comienzan el Grado en Estudios Ingleses: Lengua, Literatura y Cultura. El texto ha sido específicamente diseñado para la asignatura básica anual de primer curso "Mundos Anglófonos en perspectiva histórica y cultural" y en él se aborda el estudio de marco histórico, social y cultural del Reino Unido e Irlanda en el que surge y se expande la lengua inglesa.
